Colva Beach, South GoaThe beautiful Colva beach in South Goa is among the best known tourist attractions in Goa. It is known as the largest among the beaches of south Goa. Located about 6 kilometers west of Margao, and 39 kilometers from Panjim, this beach stretches to 25 kilometers, lined by coconut palms facing the serene Arabian Sea.

Attractions

The south Goa beaches like Benaulim, Majorda, Betalbatim, Betul, Canaguinim, Agonda, Palolem, Rajbhag, Polemcan be visited on a stroll or by other means from Colva beach. The Benaulim beach, about 2 kilometers away, is quieter than Colva.

The "Menino Jesus (baby Jesus) statue revered by the locals is an interesting thing to watch in the local church. The festival Fama of Menino Jesuse' is celebrated on the third Monday of October every year, and is a major tourist attraction.

The following religious places are also among the notable tourist spots near Colva beach Shree Damodar Temple, Chandranath Temple, Shree Navdurga Temple, Shantadurga Temple, Jama Masjid at Sanguem, the Cabo de Rama and the Buddhist caves at Rivona.

The Beach Bonanza fair is a vibrant event held on Sundays in mid April, and involves music, dance and a lot of fanfare.

Colva Beach, South GoaThe bullfights held near the Benaulim beach from October to May are very popular among the locals. The fights are cheered on by the onlookers who constantly run around as there are no barricades.

The city of Margao is another place to visit from Colva and has some old churches and temples of interest.

Activities
Like all other beaches of Goa, there are many shacks located at the beach that serve many local and other dishes. A wide array of drinks, cocktails and fruits can be savored at the beach.

Tourists can indulge in a host of beach activities like kayaking, speed boating, sailing, and water scootering.

Access
You can get regular bus services from Margao and Vasco da Gama to reach Colva. The nearest railway stations are located at Margao and another new station about 3 kilometers from Margao.
